Press Release – Ansett Aviation Training Expands Business Relationship With Virgin Australia

AAT and Virgin Australia sign co-branding agreement for training centre at Brisbane Airport

AAT to assume maintenance of Virgin Australia’s Boeing 737 simulators in Brisbane

Brisbane, 15 March 2021 – Ansett Aviation Training (AAT) has announced it will expand its business relationship with Virgin Australia by co-branding and operating a second training centre in Brisbane.

AAT will also assume the maintenance of two Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Full Flight Simulators (FFS) alongside additional FFS bays. The centre was previously operated by Boeing Training & Professional Services in partnership with Virgin Australia.

Ansett Aviation Training CEO David Garside said AAT has worked closely with Virgin Australia and its subsidiaries for more than 10 years and is pleased to extend its business relationship to include the co-branding of its training facility at Brisbane Airport.

“The centre will build on AAT’s commitment to providing safe and reliable training equipment and will offer everything from flight simulators to cabin and aircrew training facilities,” said Mr Garside.

“We’re delighted our more than 30 years of expertise has been recognised by Virgin Australia and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship as they enter the next stage of their exciting journey.”

Virgin Australia Chief Operations Officer Stuart Aggs said the airline continues to invest in partnerships that deliver a safe and efficient aircraft operation for Australians, and one that ensures the majority of our training continues to be undertaken in Queensland.

“Through the expanded relationship, our pilots and crew will benefit from world-class training within a consolidated and convenient space in Brisbane. We look forward to continuing our long and fruitful relationship with AAT.” Mr Aggs also acknowledged the efforts of outgoing partner Boeing Training & Professional Services and thanked them for their support.

AAT also maintains a B737-800 simulator on behalf of Virgin Australia from its Melbourne Tullamarine Training Centre.

AAT opened Ansett Aviation Training Brisbane in November 2018 and operates a Full Flight Simulator at Sunshine Coast Airport. Both facilities will continue to operate as normal with potential to add up to nine Full Flight Simulators across both sites alongside plans for further bays where required.
